It’s no secret that we love our dogs. J and I were talking recently about how thankful we are to have our sweet Shiloh and Milo in our hearts and homes. Between their cuddles, kisses and personalities, they make our home full of so much love and laughter. It is certain that we would be worst versions of ourselves without them. Goodness, though, dogs sure can be messy. Neither J nor I grew up with dogs, and both of our homes growing up were always clean and tidy. We were in for quite the surprise when we soon discovered how just one dog, and then two, can create quite the mess.
I am so happy to be teaming up with Art of Green® to share how their cleaning spray and cleansing wipes can help create your home space a place free of dirt, grime and all the toxins that are so harmful to our home environment and our bodies. What better way to celebrate National Love Your Dog Day than creating the best home space for our favorite four-legged friends. And here are five things you can do to ensure a cleaner, dog-filled home. Quick disclaimer – while I am receiving compensation for this blog post, all thoughts are my own. Additionally, I strongly recommend Art of Green cleaning products to ensure your dog-friendly home is clean and grime-free.
I know, it is SO much easier said than done, and way easier to say you are going to clean the mess before you even see it. But honestly, it works like a charm. And while I am not always the best at it (thanks crazy busy schedule) I do notice that when both J and I tackle the mess as we see it, it allows for our home to be kept in a much tidier and healthier state of living. With Art of Green, the cleaning wipes, make this even easier, allowing you to easily clean up or wipe down messes. And yes, I am talking directly to you little Milo, our golden retriever who loves nothing more than playing in the rain.
Unfortunately, dirt and grime can reside in all sorts of places, even the places where we don’t even think to look or clean. I am talking about the dog toys, door handles, cabinet knobs, faucets and beyond. An easy way to keep track of things and ensure your home space is free from all the mess is to use the Art of Green cleaning wipes to easily clean up any and all messes, and ensure spaces are clean and free. Of course, using Art of Green, you have the added bonus of knowing that the cleaning products you are using in your home are non-toxic and safe to use around pets and animals, something that is so incredibly important and hard to find in cleaning products these days.
I believe the cleanliness of a home starts and ends in the kitchen. The kitchen – the focal point of all the living. An easy way to ensure that the home stays clean and clutter free, especially when it is home full of the sweet puppies, is to keep the kitchen clean. The easiest way to do that is to run the dishwasher every night. Even if it’s not fully loaded, run the dishwasher, and then unload it first thing in the morning while you are waiting for your cup of coffee to brew! When you run the dishwasher, be sure to include the dog bowls to prevent the buildup of extra gunk. Us humans don’t eat off of the same plate for every meal, so why should our dogs have to do the same.
Oh, the dog hair! I truly did not believe that dog hair could be everywhere until having two dogs and then of course wearing anything black and leaving the house after saying my goodbye snuggles with the pups. An easy habit to get into (and something, I need to be better about) is to run the vacuum every day. Put the headphones in, play your favorite songs and go to work. The reality is, you can spend just a few favorite songs a day and keep things dog hair and other dirt free. Plus, as you vacuum the floor daily, it is an easy way to spot any other dirt or stains accumulating on the floor, thus making it super easy to spray the Art of Green disinfectant spray to clean up any and all messes.
While germs and toxins are definitely are enemy in the home, so is clutter. An easy way to combat clutter is to design space and storage for our sweet pups. From storage bins to hold dog toys, to bins in the pantry for dog treats, there are plenty of ways to neatly store and organize all the dog things. Plus, it is always a good idea to wipe down these baskets and bins frequently with the Art of Green spray to keep the home clean and free. Personally, we have a storage basket in both our master bedroom and downstairs living room as a place to keep the dogs’ cuddle and chew toys. Plus having, these bins available allows for easy clean up at the end of the day. Plus, the dogs love looking in their storage bins to find something new to play with.
While this is a short list full of easy and simple ways to create a home that is cleaner and full of all the happy dogs and things, it is so important to reiterate that this is just a list. Life happens, days can get crazy and things can become insane, so always have a position of grace and be willing and able to extend it to yourself when things happen. Nonetheless, this list of 5 simple things to create a cleaner home are a great place to start. And with Art of Green products, a cleaner home is made even simpler and easy.
