Four tips to be able to take ownership of your day and live your life while maintaining an organized home! In order to live from a place where you can live with more peace and less stress. Believe it or not, physical things in our environment can cause us stress, even without realizing it until we walk into that room or that situation.
Think about the moments in your life where you feel physically overwhelmed? Focus on those areas and turn your attention to those spaces. Listen to your body as it tries to communicate with you throughout the day. So much can be learned from being still and really being one with yourself and the moment that you are in. What can our physical stressors reveal to us about the state of affairs?
Therefore, in order to live with more peace and purpose I have four simple tips to organize and maintain a tidy home! Four things that you can easily do over the next week, or a couple of weeks, in order to live from more peace within your home.
The very first tip to maintaining an organized home is to make sure everything has a specific space. In order to keep things neat and tidy – every single thing you own needs a specific place. You need to know exactly where every single thing belongs. Once you know where everything goes, it becomes so much easier to keep a hold of things, to straighten up and tidy up. If things are overwhelming in number and you have too much stuff, then it is impossible to keep your home organized.
My favorite room to organize and clean within our home is my son’s nursery. When creating and planning his room, I wanted to be so sure that every single thing had a place to go. I had storage cubbies for diapers, wipes, socks, all the health and wellness items. Every single thing has a place to go. It is so fun to clean and organize his room because every single thing has a specific space for it to belong.
Additionally, start small. Focus one section at a time. One room at a time. Focus first on the areas you traffic the most during the day. Or focus on the areas that cause you the most stress. Start there and find so much more order in your home.
Number two, simplify and declutter in order to have an organized home. Less stuff makes it so much easier to keep things tidy and neat. Therefore, in order to have an organized home, it is essential to simplify and declutter your belongings. When there is too much stuff, whatever it is, those items no longer have a place to go and can create a chaotic mess.
Think about your home and your life and the things that are your weakness. What are the things you struggle with. Focus in on that area and figure out how you can work around the problem, in order to be on top of it, and not behind it. Be up front to figure out a solution that brings you peace. So, number two, in order to keep an organized home, simplify and declutter.
The third way to maintain an organized home is to incorporate five minute cleaning tasks, scheduled throughout your week. Determine quick and easy five minute tasks that don’t take a whole bunch of time and schedule them throughout the week. Think of the things that have to get done, but don’t actually take that much time and actually schedule them in your calendar.
Visualize and think through easy things that can help you have a more functional and peaceful residence. Wiping down counters. Scrubbing the toilets. This will depend on you and your life, but take the time to think through super easy tasks that are short and schedule them throughout your week in order to keep things neat and organized.
Finally, the fourth way to maintain an organized home is the most important of all. In order to keep an organized home, have communication and partnership with your spouse. You are a team with shared responsibilities. Have open communication and talk with each other about how you can support one another in keeping a neat and tidy home. When one person is going through a more stressful and busy season, in our home, we know that the other is going to pick up some of the weight around the home, and vice versa.
In order to keep an organized home, share responsibilities and keep open communication with your spouse. Be on the same page. Have open communication. Actually talk about what that looks like. What are the things you love to do, that your spouse doesn’t love to do. How can you share responsibilities in order to keep an organized home! Utilize your strengths and weaknesses. Figure out what will work best for you!
I hope you are feeling empowered for your home in order to keep things organized. You absolutely can live in a place that is free of chaos and free from clutter. A place that feels good and the way that a home feels. It won’t be perfect. But it can be a place where you feel peace, and that peace can absolutely come from your physical environment. Start small, one area at a time, focus on the places that cause you the most stress and or the spaces that you frequent often.
Simplify and declutter. Utilize quick and easy cleaning tasks that can be scheduled throughout the week. And communicate and establish a strong partnership with your spouse. Take a deep breath and envision how you are going to feel when you reach this goal environment for your home. This is possible and you can absolutely do it! Wishing you the best day today and everyday!
