Additionally, I love a conversation of moving with action towards the direction of our dreams. It’s great to have ideas and goals and visions, but if we are not acting on them, then, well, we are completely missing the point
Honestly, it’s funny. It wasn’t until after I became a mom, that I truly decided to figure this all out. Not until when my time became super limited, where I found more drive and more momentum to really take the tiny moments and tiny cracks of my day, and to figure out how can to actually accomplish the things that I need to accomplish. Which is why I’m excited to share with you several steps to forming successful habits in order to help make your goals actually happen.
All of this is going to be done through setting goals and establishing habits. Specifically, successful habits that are actually going to take you to where you need to go. In order for you to accomplish your goals and your dreams. That is exactly what my intention is. To give encouragement, to inspire positive thinking, so you can feel capable and ready to make actionable steps towards the you that you want to become.
And to do that we are going to start with habits. Specifically, how to create habits that actually work in order to get to your destination, the goal, or the dream. Whatever that is, you will get there. Now, a habit is something that a person does often in a regular and repeated way. Something that you do often or regularly without really thinking about it.
A thing that happens frequently through repetition and it becomes a part of your everyday lifestyle. The power of habit is that through this repetition, the habit becomes a part of you. It becomes a daily practice that truly can impact how you live each day. And when you form successful habits it can unlock the very you that you are hoping to become. The you you have always dreamed of becoming!
Now, friend, are you struggling to keep a positive mindset as you work through the busy of your day, trying to be everything to everyone, and wearing yourself down in the process? I know exactly how frustrating it can be to feel burnt out and pulled in every direction. Struggling to maintain a positive mindset as you work through the different parts of your day. I was her, and that version of me struggled to find joy. Unable to rest in the little quiet moments of my day because I was so consumed by feeling not enough.
Please know that you do not have to feel that way. I invite you to explore what can happen when you swap the negative for the positive. To see exactly what happens as you move away from the insecurities to feeling more confident in the many different avenues of your life. Book a coaching call and let’s walk through my mindset method together.
I have eight steps to help you set up successful habits. In order to find success for the rest of the year. To work on building momentum now, so that way you can be proud of what you accomplished by the end of the year. Instead of waiting for next spring or next summer.
The good news is, you don’t have to wait. You can step into this today. And as I share these steps to set up successful habits now to set you up for success throughout the rest of the year. I have a free workbook for you. A workbook to take you through each step and allow you room to work through and process your thoughts to actually establish successful habits that work.
Habits that can stick so you can reach your goals and chase your dreams. In order to be that next level version of yourself you are desiring. Alright, the eight steps to building successful habits that actually work. Each step builds off of the previous one in order to move you in the direction of your dreams.
The very first step towards setting up successful habits is to have the belief in yourself. The whole intention is to make sure you feel capable and inspired. Know that this is something that you actually can truly do! Which is why the very first step, step number one is all about belief. The most successful people all have in common, a strong belief in themself. The belief that it is possible. Believing that good things can happen to them. Therefore, know that you are capable and that it is actually possible to reach your goals and achieve your desired personal growth.
You are absolutely able to achieve the success that you have been dreaming of. Therefore, the very first step to setting up a successful habit is having the belief that you can do this. Start there. Acknowledge that you can do this. State that I can do this. Write it out, specifically. “I can do this!” This is absolutely essential because if you don’t have the belief, then why even bother continuing down the path.
And even if that belief is so, so small, you have to start with something. Start with a little ounce of belief in yourself. And as you move through the rest of the steps, as you set goals, form solid habits, to accomplish your dreams, know that the belief is only going to grow stronger and stronger. Therefore, the first step is to believe in yourself. Believe that you are capable and that it is possible. Have this belief in yourself at the start of the day, this belief combined with a positive attitude will absolutely be essential to forming good habits to unlock the success you are after.
The second step to set up successful habits is to identify and define the desired outcome. Focus on what is the number one goal that you want to achieve. It is so important to set goals. It is absolutely necessary to determine and write down what you hope to achieve within your own life. When you know what the number one goal is, it is easier to break that down even further into actual steps. Take time to clearly identify what your desired outcome is.
What is the desired outcome? What does it look like? Not just, oh, I want to lose some weight. Or, I want to be healthier. But specifically, what does losing weight look like? Or, what does being healthier look like? Another example, I want to take my creativity and my passions and turn it into something else. Okay, great. But specifically, what does that look like?
Are you wanting to start a blog? Pursue a creative endeavor that is connected to your gifting? Maybe this a financial goal. Or are you wanting to save a certain amount of money? Is it a personal goal, or a mental goal of adopting a better, healthier, more positive mindset. The most successful people in the world all do this one thing, and that is setting goals.
Whatever the steps, whatever the outcome is, know what it is, and establish that in your mind. This is such a great way to practice having what it takes to move confidently towards your dreams in your everyday, personal life. Know clearly what it is. Whatever you are desiring, know what it is. Yes, it speaks deep within your heart, but you must absolutely define it. Therefore, start with the belief and then take that belief and define the outcome. In order for us to know clearly what it is that we are looking for.
Oftentimes we can be overwhelmed by feeling so many different things. I feel this way often. I know what it’s like to sit here and to say, okay, this is going to be my fitness goal and this is going to be my personal goal. As well as my work related goal, motherhood goal, etc.
Often, I will come up with big audacious goals in every single area of my life. When in reality, it’s not actually possible to focus on ALL those things at once. Therefore, focus on the top priority of what is the most essential thing you are wanting to accomplish within these next few weeks. Focus there and then define the outcome to get you there.
The third step to establishing successful habits is to determine what specific steps must be taken to reach your desired outcome. In order to set up successful habits to reach important goals and be successful, it is absolutely necessary to know exactly what steps are needed to get there. This is the surefire way to accomplish the things you want to get done.
Unless we know exactly what it is we need to do, we will not be able to get it done. Therefore, this third step is so important to setting up a successful habit. You have to determine the actual steps needed to reach your goal. Think through what your desired outcome is, and process what all needs to happen to get there. What are the most important things that need to be done? Exactly what needs to happen on a daily basis and a weekly basis. Specifically, what are all the necessary components to help you get there?
Now, the fourth step to establishing successful habits is to schedule the steps within your daily and weekly schedule. In order to take these steps and form them into successful habits, it is important to take the time and work through our schedule to figure out when exactly these steps will get done.
Now, I am not talking about a to-do list here. No, actually build your habits into your daily and weekly life. This is the best way to be sure you are accomplishing your goals. Specifically, this is when you actually schedule them in. Therefore, if this is a fitness-related goal, take the time to schedule in when you’re going to work out. Specifically, what time are you going to go to bed the night before. That way it’s easier to jump out of bed the next day as soon as the alarm goes off?
Specifically, schedule these steps within your schedule, write them in your planner, and make it official. This is so crucial for forming good habits and setting yourself up for success. Once you know you have the time on a daily basis and within your week to work towards this goal. Specifically, place in the moment when the habit is going to be formed. Spend the valuable time taking this step as it is essential to moving forward in the process to actually making these successful habits work.
So that brings us to a step number five, which is identify the trigger. In order to establish successful habits, it is important to identify the trigger. What actually is going to signal to you and your brain that this is what I’m doing in this exact moment. It’s written down and you know what needs to be done. However, what is actually going to give you that motivation to do it and take the action when it’s time?
When you hear the alarm go off first thing in the morning and are signaled that this is the time to show up. That now is the time to step fully into the process of accomplishing the goal. That now is go time. Time to take action. It is the little things that are done over and over again that build successful habits. The little things done continuously that create the change. Therefore, identify these triggers and take action. Whatever it is you are trying to do in whichever area of your life, identify the steps that align with where you need to go and schedule them in to your daily and weekly schedule.
What is the trigger point? Specifically, what is the moment that is going to signal to you? This is when it is go time. Maybe it’s after your morning quiet time, when you have that beautiful, amazing, delicious cup of coffee that is warm and ready to go. The aroma, the warmth in your hand and you sit down at your desk. You know that this is the trigger that I need to power through and really work through some detailed creativity to reach whatever goal you are trying to reach.
Figure out what that trigger is. Habit formation is all about repetition. Doing something with frequency and a purpose so that it becomes an integral part of your daily life. So that these actions become a part of who you are and your lifestyle. These are the habits of highly effective people. The most successful people know what their trigger is to reach their goals and chase their dreams. So this brings us to step number six. Once we identify the trigger, then we must prepare in advance.
The sixth step to forming successful habits is all about preparation. In order to reach the positive outcome you desire for yourself and your goals, preparation is so key. Have the necessary things ready to be able to do the actions every single day. Get rid of the fluff, get rid of all the extra, and just focus in on the essentials.
So if you’re taking the fitness goal approach and you want to work out more, incorporating more regular exercise in your life and your habit is waking up earlier in the morning to work out. Then prepare yourself in advance by having the necessary things, having your clothes ready the night before. Know what you’re going to wear, have your water bottle already filled up and sitting in the fridge before you go to work out.
That way, when the trigger happens and the alarm goes off, you don’t have to focus on all these other things. It becomes easy. The steps have already been laid for you and you just have to do. You have to grab the clothes that are laid out. Get the water and then you are already in autopilot to reach that next step, which is doing the action that becomes the successful habit.
If you are wanting to focus in on this creative passion and do something bigger than what you currently are doing, prepare your workstation in advance. Have a clear desk that is organized with a spot to fully think clearly and with your list of knowing exactly what you need to get done in the process.
That’s so important. So the sixth step to forming successful habits is to actually do the preparation in advance. And as you look through and you are working through this workbook to show you each step and each trigger and the preparation that is needed, all of this is going to help you get there.
The seventh step to establishing successful habits is to practice again and again. Continuously practice these steps until they become a success habit. Schedule them in week after week. Give yourself, your body and your mind the opportunity to move this behavior into the subconscious thought. Take what you are doing and allow it to become second nature. Allow it to become something that is done without even thinking. Successful habits cannot be formed without hard work. Therefore, put in the practice. This is the only way to be sure these successful habits stick.
Therefore, keep practicing and keep committing. Use these next several weeks and months and practice daily. Practice these steps often so they become habits. Habits that allow you to position yourself in a great place of reaching your goals and achieving your dreams. This is possible. You are capable. You can absolutely do this and achieve the growth you are after in your personal life.
Finally, the last step. The eighth step to creating and establishing successful habits is to affirm and envision yourself living out this habit every single day. Talk in the future tense. Speak loudly. Affirm the finished results. Tell yourself how proud you are of yourself for accomplishing your goals. How proud of yourself you are for creating this new habit. Seriously, take time to speak out loud saying that you are proud of yourself for doing this. This is something you can do in your gratitude journal. Specifically, journal a gratitude affirmation for building the successful habits and accomplishing your desired success.
I am so proud of you for completely changing your morning routine and getting up so much earlier to work out. Find huge success and breaking down walls that have been holding you back within your fitness, within your health. I’m so proud of you for working through the heart. I’m so proud of you for taking the time to get rid of the negative thoughts and find the gratitude and the positive to embrace this new lifestyle.
Envision yourself living out your habit every single day. Look at how happy you are. See how confident and capable you feel, how much stronger and resilient you actually are. Envision yourself living out this habit every single day. Imagine your daily routine fully aligned with the you that you dream of being. Let that fuel your motivation to get there. Friend, it is absolutely possible for you to set up successful habits now to set you up for success the rest of the year
Finally, you can do this. Believe in yourself. Believe in the version of you that you are hoping to become. You can absolutely be her. In fact, you already are her.
