I love the feeling of the summer months! That overwhelm of freedom and anticipation full of excitement as the school year comes to a close and summer break begins! As a teacher and as a mom, my heart is so eager to enjoy the slower moments, and the fun-filled memories that summer brings. Therefore, this summer intentional to-do list, full of things to do in the month of June is to equip you to live your best kind of life this summer.
The summer months are full of slowing life down, spending more time outdoors, connected with fun and the people you love the most! A time for adventures, memories, and all the fun! Which is exactly what this list is going to do! To provide you with 15 specific things to do for the month of June in order to live a life you can be proud of, one that is full of even more joy!
The whole purpose of the intentional to-do list is to get you away from the stress and the burden of the actual responsibilities that you need to get done. Instead, focus more on the simplicity and the fun and the joy of living life in abundance. That is exactly what the June intentional to-do list is about. Things to do in June to allow you to focus on celebrating every single day! Celebrating the moments that fill you with joy and even the hard moments. Knowing that in the hard moments, it’s just a moment and it won’t last forever.
To encourage your heart and serve YOU exactly where you are. Therefore, this month, I’m shifting my focus and am excited about it. There’s a lot of freedom when it comes from just focusing on intentionally serving your audience, whoever that audience is, no matter how big or small. Just being fully present and focusing on them right there in that given moment. And in order to do just that, here are the fifteen things to do in June in order to live a more intentional life!
Now in order to live your most joyful and intentional life this month, I have a freebie just for you! A June intentional to-do list, a checklist, something that you can download that’s super cute. You can print it or you can save it on your computer. Additionally, you can put it in your planner and then check things off as you complete each item. It’s a little way to help you dream and really create that June that you want. In order to feel awesome and to have that best day every single day.
The very first thing to do on our June intentional to-do list is to embrace the outdoors. Yes! Embrace the outdoors. Not just spend time outside, but to actually go outside and embrace it! Fully love on the earth. Spend time outside and love every moment of it. I get it! The summer months can be hot and full of bugs. Especially in the south, it can be so muggy and humid. There’s a lot of things that you could easily add up on a list of reasons to not embrace the outside and the outdoors. However, there is beauty when we can embrace the outdoors.
Instead, let’s embrace the outdoors. Embrace the incredible feeling of the sunshine and the breeze. Even in the rain, embrace the rainfall. Allow yourself to live your absolute best type of life and to have your best day. Embrace the outdoors this summer. Spend time outside, whatever that looks like for you and your family and friends. But embrace the outdoors.
The second item on the June intentional to-do list, the very next thing to do this month is to take a chance on yourself! Is there something that you have in the back of your mind as a little tiny thought that keeps saying, “Hi, I’m still here. I haven’t gone away.” Well, now is the time. Take a chance on yourself. Take a risk and trust that you can absolutely do it.
Do you want to start a new project? Maybe there’s this really cool new workout class that you think would be awesome, but you’re having a hard time working up the courage to just do it. Or maybe there’s this outreach group or a social setting that sounds really awesome that you feel like you’d be a really good fit for. But you prefer not to leave your introverted bubble.
There is no better time than right now! Just do it. Take a chance on yourself. Send that message, send that email. Take a chance on yourself because you are worth it! Plus, you never know what could be if you simply take a chance on yourself.
The third item on your June intentional to-do list is to dream an even bigger dream this month! What is something that you already have in your mind as something you hope to accomplish? A dream that you hope to aspire to be? Take that dream, the vision, whatever it is, and dream even bigger. Open up your eyes a little more.
Think through the thoughts in more fullness. Seriously, dream an even bigger dream. Yes, absolutely. Personally, I am going to take my dream of this podcast and going to ramp it up a notch and dream, an even bigger dream. I want you guys to do that with me too, for whatever you are dreaming of. Because your dream can absolutely come true!
The fourth thing to do in June is to enjoy the sweeter things in life! Find the joy in being a kid again and enjoy the sweet things! Find freedom in having a popsicle, or going for snow cones with your friends and family. Take a trip to your favorite local ice cream shop. And don’t even worry about the over indulgence!
Enjoy a sweet treat and don’t think twice about it! Have the popsicle, the snow cone, or the ice cream, and not care! If your hands are sticky because the popsicle melted in your hands and you now have made a mess. Who cares? Seriously! There’s too much hardship and darkness in this world to let little things steal our joy.
Instead, enjoy the sweeter things in life. The popsicles, the snow cones, the ice cream. Even, the ice cream sandwiches. Be fully present in those moments and, and make it a date. Make it an activity. Sometimes the littlest of things can give birth to an abundance of joy! Find that joy and hold on to it! Because you deserve an abundance of joy, every single day!
The fifth thing to do this month is to go retro. Resort back to the classics. The iconic things of your past that used to light a fire in your soul. Find the things that brought you infinite joy in your youth, and go back to that place. Have a block party. Get an old school parachute. The iconic board games. All the things that you used to do when you were younger and the world felt sweeter and bigger and better and more hopeful. And do it. Go retro.
Plan a family picnic. Go and make the PBJ sandwiches. Take it back a notch. Take it back to a place that is comfortable to YOU and sit there. Fill your heart with the joy and the peace that you need. Now, if you’re like, but really, how do I do this?
Seriously, go walk through Target. Their outdoor section, specifically the Sun Squad brand is full of all sorts of fun games and things. All the iconic outdoor play toys that summers in the early nineties were made of! Go old school! Help your kids set up a lemonade stand. Just do something that truly takes you back. Way back to a place where you felt really good and you felt hopeful in life. Go there and spend some time there and get reacquainted with that version of yourself. I can assure you, you will find a little bit of yourself in the process.
The sixth thing to do this June is to spend intentional time with your people. Carve out specific time within your week that can be with the people you love. Make a date night. Have one night a week that is date night, even if you are unable to physically go somewhere because of babysitters or things like that.
But make actual time each week to spend quality time with your person. Maybe that’s after the kids go to bed and you play a game, or you just connect and have REAL conversation. Or whatever it is that you need to truly connect. Do it, and make a point to do that every single week.
If you are a mama, spend time with your baby. Spend time with your children. Figure out a way to have one-on-one time every single week that can really cultivate an amazing relationship and connection! It doesn’t have to be complicated, just time where you can spend fully devoted to your sweet little ones. As easy as a park, or a front yard chalk date, or trip to a coffee shop! Anything that you can do to create that intentional time. Spending intentional time is really important and it’s good for all of you that are spending that time together.
The seventh item on your June intentional to-do list is to cultivate quality morning time and quiet time spent outdoors! For me, June is finally summer and freedom and more slow-paced living. One of my favorite things to do, is to take a book, journal or a devotional, and my coffee or a glass of lemon water and sit on our front porch on the rockers. I’ll crack open the window so that the dogs can stick their little heads through and listen to the birds chirping.
To really spend that time in solitude and quiet outside. So that’s definitely something to add to your June intentional to-do list. To fully embrace the art of living more slowly and enjoying the beauty of the outside!
The eighth thing to do in June is to refresh an outdoor living space. Take a little section of your home that’s outside and do a little refresh. It doesn’t have to be this overly expensive, incredibly thought out kind of thing. Instead, it can be so simple. Think, add a fresh new outdoor mat, or a cute planter with some florals.
Both of which are relatively cheap and can add fresh energy to your outdoor space. Other ideas include adding some lights. There are so many things that you can do that are so quick and easy. All while not breaking the bank. Easy ways to help refresh an outdoor living space to fulfill that part of you that feels excited and joyful when you’re living and working through a space that is inviting.
The ninth thing to do this June is to make a goal. Think about something you hope to accomplish, something you hope to achieve, and spend the month of June working towards that goal. What is something that you really, really hope to accomplish that you don’t want to wait any longer for? Make a goal and be really purposeful about achieving your goal.
During the month of June, think forwards. What can you do a little each day to help accomplish that goal? What is something that by the end of June, you hope to achieve? Write that down. Take your little planner, or your agenda, and write that down at the end of June. Then work backwards. What are little check marks you need along the way to help actually get you to where you hope to go? Believe that you have exactly what it takes to accomplish the very thing your heart desires!
The tenth thing to do this June is to do something for your mind. Do something that is strictly for your mind to encourage it, to challenge it, and to stimulate it! Something that is fun and can serve as a little escape. Especially when the thoughts become overwhelming or the anxiety begins to creep in. What’s something you can do that’s NOT sitting there scrolling on your phone causing more stress. But what’s something you can do to just step away from it all.
Focus on pouring into your mind and giving your mind the exercise that it needs. I love a puzzle. We are gonna go on our family beach trip in June, and we’ll always have a puzzle there and it’s one of my favorite things in the world to do is to work on a puzzle. Or work on a Sudoku puzzle. Just do something small for your mind that can really help provide an escape, but also a little stimulation to help yourself out even more!
The eleventh item to add to your June to-do list, do something each day that your tomorrow you will be very appreciative of. Think to yourself, what’s something you can do every single day that you know tomorrow you are going to look back on and say, thank you so much for doing this.
I think the easiest things to think of when you are thinking through this would be exercise or eating healthy. And of course those are two very important pillars of our lives. Additionally, what’s something you can organize or something you can clean? Or is there a daunting task that you’ve been holding onto that you haven’t done? What is something you can do today that the tomorrow you will say, thank you so much. I appreciate you and I am proud of you for it.
Number twelve of the June intentional to-do list, make your bed every single day! There is so much power that comes from making your bed. It sets your day up, it creates the framework for what the day is going to look like. It establishes how the day is going to feel. Personally, it’s one of my favorite feelings in the whole entire world, especially when it’s fresh, clean sheets, to crawl into a fully made bed every single night! it’s just happiness, pure, pure happiness. Therefore, make your bed every single day.
Number thirteen on the June to-do list is to drink more water. Please, do this for yourself! Drink more water. I finally caved an ordered the super hyped, influenced, Stanley Thirst Adventure, 40 ounce water bottle. The water bottle that every influencer has been raving about for the last sixteen months. Well, I finally ordered one and it is absolutely worth the hype!
And if you haven’t bought yourself one and you’re like, do I really need to spend $40 on a water bottle? I’m sorry to say that, yes you do. If you find yourself a really awesome epic water bottle to drink out of all summer long, it makes it even easier to stay hydrated. So, this summer, drink more water. Make it a point to stay hydrated so you can truly be your best version of yourself by being healthy and feeling fully alive with the water that your body needs to survive.
Up next, number 14, create an iconic summer playlist. Create one or find one that’s already created for you over on Spotify. Either way, you don’t have to make it officially yours. You can just find one that you adopt as your personal playlist for the summer. Create or play an iconic summer playlist. Something that you can have going in the car as you’re driving around to and from.
A playlist you can have playing in the background at home when you’re cooking dinner. While you are hanging out outside. Whatever the scenario is, find yourself an iconic summer playlist that you can listen to and that you can just rock out on and have so much fun thriving through all the classics. Truly, music can absolutely set the mood, so allow an iconic summer playlist do just that for you this summer!
Finally, the fifteen thing to do during the month of June is to plan a trip. Find a way to make it work, even if it is just a day trip to a hidden gem somewhere where you live. A quick adventure to provide that family connection. That reset. A little escape to nature, to give birth to the thrill of adventure and excitement. If you are able, go on a weekend getaway! Or sneak away to the beach.
Make a point to take the trip and to find time to cultivate adventure with your family and with the people that mean the absolute most to you. Additionally, it always is so refreshing to be able to take a step away from your day to day life, to find that refresh in the fun of a trip, and to come back to the normalcy with a completely new perspective!
