I felt like what better way to come to you from exactly where I am in the moment as we are living through and working through summer. So that’s what we’re going to do. My hope is to bring you light hearted encouragement. A sweet reminder to find joy. As well as, a simple note that we’re all in this together. This week has been an interesting week in our household. Interesting, mainly because every single thing I have focused on this week has been in preparation for my son’s birthday. He turned two this week. His birthday party is this upcoming weekend and it’s been full blown party preparation mode. Which of course, I don’t mind one bit because I love putting an event together.
We don’t really do it often, but I love hosting people in our home. I love celebrating my son. Truthfully, I love any kind of challenge of having a lot to do in a short time period. I find it very soothing to my soul to have to make a very very long to do list of a whole bunch of things to do and that’s exactly what we have been doing lately.
Which brings me to another important word of encouragement for you, treat everyday like an adventure. In preparation for his birthday party, we had a full morning of errands to run. Therefore, I told him we were going on an adventure. All throughout the day he kept saying adventure, adventure, everywhere we went. It was such a beautiful reminder to treat every day as an adventure. Even in the simple, in the ordinary. Even when things are not super grand. But just in the everyday moments. In the things that we have to do, finding adventure and an excitement about them.
This is something I really want to model for my son. I want him to see an enthusiasm for life in the simple things. The simple moments, such as a trip to the grocery store. Or preparing for dinner. In the moments that could easily feel overwhelmed, to find enthusiasm and joy. In these moments, I could easily have been stressed and overwhelmed trying to prepare all these things. Instead, I just wanted to live in the present.
Of course, it’s so much easier said than done. And I’m not saying this because I’ve mastered it. No, there’s been plenty of times this week where I have noticed myself feeling stressed. Feeling like I haven’t had time for me and needing a quick moment to step away. I’ve had to walk away and just leave the room for a moment because I knew that I was getting off of my rocker and I didn’t want to give that energy into our household.
Another important word of encouragement for you. Know that it is absolutely okay to feel free to take a moment to step away. Feel free to walk away and remove yourself from a situation if you are able to and need it. Take a moment to find that breath again. To remind yourself that you can do this! It’s always nice to leave a situation, even if it’s walking literally into another room and being able to find that reset. Also, shifting your perspective back to the feeling that everything is okay.
A moment to encourage you and remind you of the honor and joy it is to be alive. That in the midst of the crazy of planning a birthday party, that it is an honor and a joy to be able to celebrate another year of life for my son. A blessing to have family together in our home. This is just one way to look at things from gratitude and appreciation. And it can definitely make the stress and the overwhelm feel a lot easier.
This is exactly what this online space and community is for. A place for you to tune in each week and to feel like you can breathe a little deeper. To truly feel like you’re having a conversation with a best friend. That you feel seen and heard. To be able to share words of encouragement with you.
Helpful tips and tricks and advice as we balance this crazy life. Balancing all the different things that we are passionate about and wanting to live in a happy and positive mindset. A word of encouragement to truly feel like we can be ourselves. And just as important, we can be who we need to be for everyone else in our life. And I want that for us.
A reminder to live a life where we feel encouraged. A word to encourage you, to live a life where we feel like we can actually find joy. To try the best we can every single day! And when we can’t, when it’s hard, and we feel like we are not doing enough, because trust me, we all feel that way time and time again.
To remind yourself that things are okay. So that’s really what I wanted to share with you. And as this teacher is quickly coming up on the start to another school year, another word of encouragement to slow things down. A reminder to not rush this season of life.
I do not want to rush this season of life that we are currently living in. The moments with my son. His imagination, his creativity, the way he sees the world. His curiosity, his excitement for everything, the way he can form sentences and the things he has to say. It’s all so much fun, and I am constantly walking around in awe and in amazement of it everything it means to be a mom to my sweet baby boy.
But it’s just so sweet to soak up those extra snuggles because I know that there’ll be a point soon where he will not want to snuggle mom and I am not going to waste away any moments until then. So, if you are a mama, and if you are in the thick of it, looking for a moment to breathe, I just want to remind you. To give you a word of encouragement that the things you feel are so important, and the emotions you feel are so important.
There’s been a couple of days over here this summer where mothering has been hard. I have found myself thinking, goodness, I cannot wait for the school year. I cannot wait to have a little bit more time where I’m fully focused on my own ambitions and dreams and not having to 100% show up in each moment for my son, right? But, there also have been an equal amount of moments this summer where I have realized just how amazing it would be to be full time at home with my boy.
Please know, the things you think, the things you question, all of those things, they are important, and they don’t make you any less of a person if you think certain ways. Stay true to who you are, feel confident in the decisions you make for yourself, for your family. Don’t let anyone else in this world tell you otherwise.
I think it’s so great that there’s so many platforms, so many ways for people to communicate. To be able to express how they feel and to express their opinions. However, you have to remember that you have a voice. Your voice is so important and powerful and strong and powerful.
You have to be able to think on your own and make decisions on your own. It’s something as a teacher in the classroom, we are always, always trying to impart on our students. To encourage them, to challenge things and question things and to find the truth on their own. And I encourage you to live a life where you’re always looking for that truth and always finding that joy.
Live a life where you that your voice is important and your voice matters. That you matter, that you are important. To know that you are doing a great and an amazing job. Therefore, keep doing you. I hope this message was encouraging to you. A message to equip you to have the best day every single day. And that’s what I’m here for. Cheering you on, encouraging you every single step of the way.
