Determined to finish this year on our best foot.
Intentional to-do lists are one of my favorite things over here. I find so much joy in putting together monthly intentional to-do lists, focused on the tasks of things to do to truly live out each month in the most intentional way. Specific things to do in December to make sure your heart is in check. In order to live this intentional life, a life lived well, in grace and freedom. A life lived in purpose and a sense of joy, and to rest in that joy!
Today’s intentional to-do list of things to do in December is FUN! I had so much fun sitting and reflecting on the intentional things to do this December. The things on this to-do list for the month of December are on this list to help you live out your very best life this month.
This December to-do list includes nine items. Nine specific things to focus on as you live your life and head into the new year. Some of these items are super fun and holiday themed. While the others are right intentions to focus on in order to help you truly live that best self this month. To live a month where you can end the year and head into the new year feeling proud and a sense of accomplishment in who you are and where you are going.
Let’s jump right on in to the 9 things to do this December. Your December intentional to-do list.
The very first thing on your December to-do list is designed to give you purpose. The first thing to do this December is to plan ahead for the month. Yes, the holidays are crazy and full of extra things that need to be done. Therefore, make it a priority to truly live an intentional life this December and to plan ahead. Prioritize finding moments of quiet where you can sit in stillness and silence and work with your planner, your calendar and plan ahead.
Sit down before the week starts to take time to figure out the essentials of the week. Take time before your weekend starts to take inventory of the weekend ahead. Have an event coming up, take time to plan ahead to make sure everything you need will be ready before you head to the place you need to be. Take moments to slow down, to be sure you have what you need to be ready to go and have all the things ready for the place you need to be!
Therefore, the very first thing to do this December is to take time to plan ahead so you can feel a little bit more in control of all the craziness!
The second thing to add to your December to-do list is super fun. This December, have a holiday movie night or a holiday movie-a-thon. Maybe you have the Hallmark Channel running on repeat all through the holidays, or Elf is more your Christmas story. Whichever your preference, make it a priority to have a holiday movie-a-thon. Once you do, go all out. Wear your festive Christmas sweater or holiday pajamas. Bring on the popcorn and the hot cocoa and soak up all the Christmas movie classics! Embrace all the holiday things and find comfort in home this holiday season. And rest in the joy of the season!
Number three on your December intentional to-do list, bake holiday cookies. Personally, this is one of my favorite holiday traditions as my sister and I have a Christmas cookie decorating night every single year and make the happiest of moments. Have a holiday baking session where you get all your favorite Christmas treat recipes out and go all out. Use the fun cookie cutters and icing accessories, put on your most spirited attire, blast the Christmas music, make the holiday cookies and have so much fun!
The fourth thing to do this December, have a romantic date night in with a home-cooked meal and a special holiday cocktail for those who can indulge in the speciality drinks. Spend quality time with your significant other, investing in each other, being intentional. Work together in the kitchen to cook and make a special meal. Allow this to be a special time to connect. Usually, my husband and I will find a recipe from our favorite cookbook, Half Baked Harvest. So many great options there to truly create the most intimate of holiday moods.
Plan it. Set a date. Put it on the calendar. Maybe choose a Friday or Saturday night after the little ones go to bed where you can spend that intentional and quality time together. Light the candles, play soft instrumental Christmas music, pour yourself a glass of wine or make that speciality holiday cocktail. Spend that time together.
Up next on our December, intentional to-do list, look at Christmas lights. Take time to drive through your neighborhood. Or, go to a local light show. There are so many options for great light shows during the holiday season. And what a great opportunity for a wonderful family memory to be made. Look at Christmas lights. Make it fun, make it a family thing. Create a new family tradition that you can enjoy with your family for years to come, starting this December.
Next on the list is an absolute must. The sixth thing to do this December, be sure to listen to all the Christmas music, all of the time, this December. A big fan of Spotify because of the variety of playlists already made that you can easily listen to. Also, a big fan of soft instrumental music playing in the background while you work. Or, your favorite Christmas albums when driving or cooking in the kitchen. The N’Sync Home for the Holidays Christmas album is always on repeat and does exactly what it needs to do to get me in the right level of holiday spirit.
The next few things on this intentional to-do list for the month of December are focused on the intentional and purposeful things to do this December to truly live a more meaningful life. December can be crazy and a little more stressful. It also is a time of year, where we have the least amount of sunlight. I feel as if we need to tap into that and use it to our advantage. To own our moments. To be more intentional with each moment to feel like my best self.
The seventh thing to do this December, be intentional with movement. Really focus on moving your body. It can be tempting to stay stationary and stagnant during the colder, and winter months, especially in December. Instead, make it a priority and a goal to be intentional with movement this December. To find tiny parts of our day where we can move our body, exercise, and do something that makes you physically feel good.
Number eight, this December, spend less time on your phone and more time with your people. Put your phone done, set it completely aside in another room, and just be present and purposeful with your people. Indulge in the moments spent with the people who mean the most this December.
Finally, the ninth thing to be sure to do this December, wake up earlier. Wake up earlier and have quality Intentional time with yourself first thing in the morning. Start your day off with incredibly intentional time spent with yourself. This will allow you to start your day off on the best possible foot! The easiest way to make this happen. Well – go to bed earlier & have a super tasty morning beverage ready for you to make to give you the exact motivation you need to get yourself up and out of bed. Plus, sitting in that early morning hour with the quiet, the stillness, and the cozy Christmas vibe by the Christmas tree makes for an even more special moment this holiday season.
There you have it. The 9 things to do this month. Believing this final month of the year holds so much in store for you to unlock the potential of who you desire to be! Cheering you on friends, make it an amazing month!
