Fall Decorating Tips – Complete Fall Home Tour

Fall Home Tour – Decorating Tips for Fall

I know, I know, the whole world and their mother are putting up the Christmas decorations, singing the Christmas carols and getting the holiday season completely underway. However, over here at gracefulandfree, this dreamer, with her to-do list longer and more ambitious than the amount of time in a given day, heck a given year, well I am still in complete FALL mode and as promised, here is a look at our fall decor.

Before the tour begins let me tell you a few things about our decor. Some words that I would use to best describe our home and my decorating style would be a collision of Joanna Gaines, Southern Living and chic charm. I absolutely ADORE all the burlap, the shiplap, and have a knack for incorporating a wide array of white-woods and dark-wood styles all in a sweet collection. And when fall is brought to the equation that means an explosion of pumpkins, fall signs, and words of gather and thanksgiving.

My favorite go-to stores for all things home decor include (several) lovely trips to Target and Kirklands. Followed by several satisfying strolls through two of my favorite antique stores, Queen of Hearts and Woodstock Market.

And just a word of the wise as you proceed through the home tour, as always, as you go to decorate your home during any season, feel empowered to decorate the way that you love your home to feel. It is always great to use your Instagram feed and Pinterest board as an inspiration, but not as the expectation. Feel free to be fully you, babe!

Fall Home Tour – The Entryway

One of my MOST favorite spaces in our entire home. This entryway means so much to me and has been the work and result of several thrift store trips all over Georgia, but as much as I love this entry way, what I love THE MOST is transformation that this little piece of home experiences throughout all the seasons during the year. As the wreaths, pillows, and signs all adapt to the current season, I love what this space represents. And while this entryway’s Christmas decor is definitely the winner, fall’s style comes in a close second.

The bench, fence-hook display, metal buckets, wreath, and cotton ball all came from various thrift stores, including Queen of Hearts and Woodstock Market. The “fall sweet fall” pillow is a favorite of this year’s current decor obsessions and is another winning score from Kirkland’s. And the thankful sign and throw blanket are both from Target’s last year’s fall inventory. And of course, top it off with a custom family sign courtesy of Jane.com.

Fall Home Tour – Kitchen

Lets be honest. The kitchen is a place full of love and family and mess and disorder. In a perfect world, life would always be organized, the sink would always be empty of dishes and the dishwasher would run one perfect cycle and then magically empty and be ready to reload ALL OVER again. But, life is NOT PERFECT, so heck why do I even try to be?!? And when I raced home this afternoon to try to fight the sunset and hold on to enough daylight to take the pictures for this post, surely that included removing the piles of junk and relocating them to different corners of the countertops that were not included within each picture. Got to love the process. Got to love the life.

I have had so much fun this season rearranging and simplifying our countertops. It is always a puzzle of sorting out this and that. Top it off with many pumpkins and a scatter of Young Living’s fall essential oils everywhere and we have one very happy girl.

Target WINS again this season with their “bargain section” – SERIOUSLY, if you have not been you need to. Who am I even kidding – Go now! I went back today and picked up some perfect additions to my dining room decor – Christmas edition. But for this fall, their seasonal decor won big with the cutest fabric mini pumpkins for only a dollar each. I most definitely loaded up on ALL the pumpkins.

Amazon also came in PRIME (See what I did there!) this fall with the cutest and absolute perfect pillow covers to spice up this sweet corner of our breakfast area. Fun fact about this bench – these benches were handmade by one of our best friends and his dad for their wedding. And we were absolutely blessed when we arrived home from work one day to find this bench on our front porch.

And LOOK at the fall leaves that decided to finally show up and show off their colors!

Dining Room

Our dining room stands out far from the rest of our home-style. The majority of our home is country, farmhouse, and rustic. And out dining room is all things chic & cottage & charm. And I LOVE IT! Grey wall color, white shiplap, antique furnishings, and a perfect collection of white and cream colored vases, mugs, and creamers. Add some cotton and pumpkins OR trees based on the season and you are all set. My sweet momma had a perfect (old) window frame repurposed as a mirror and I love rotating different wreaths as the centerpiece of this room. Definitely a big fan of the cotton wreath, so I feel pretty darn confident about it staying there year-round. Come back for the Christmas home tour to find out!

And of course, more small fabric pumpkins because they are just the cutest and absolutely make our fall scene. I already know that I am going to completely FREAK next fall when I go to set-up the decor and remember about “last year’s” find.

And of course, the center piece of it all, a collection of my favorite shades of white – pumpkins, vases, pillars, canvas signs and COTTON. Lots of cotton. Truthfully, looking at this single spot just makes my heart happy, and your home should most definitely make your heart happy!

Family Room

There is something absolutely magical about a statement wall and a statement clock. And this wall is just perfect. This table has always been one of my favorite antique finds and add MORE PUMPKINS (thanks Target and Kirkland’s) and fall floral arrangements. And why throw away your old throw pillows when you can just stuff them in a basket instead!

Well, there you have it friends. I hope your fall is lovely and your home is warm and full of love. Hang on to all the thankful thoughts and I will see you again on the Christmas Home Tour.
