There are so many voices telling you all the different ways in which you should live your life, the things you shouldn’t do, the things you should do. So much noise and it can be so easy to get lost in it. However, when is the last time you truly took inventory of your own personal life and your own routines, to truthfully assess how you are really doing. Now is the best time to do that. To evaluate your own personal self-care routine to figure out even better ways to take care of you. Sharing with you five super and simple ways to elevate your self-care routine to take better care of yourself!
One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is to take care of and prioritize our very own self-care routine. Within this fast paced world that we live in, with so much of societal expectation rooted in progress, perfection, and hustle, it can be super easy to forget to slow down to take better care of ourselves.
A big part of my own mission here, within this lifestyle brand is for you to feel an encouragement and freedom in this space. An encouragement and a freedom to feel confident in the person you were created and designed to be. That is my mission, and I want that version of you to be really well taken care of. Which is why I am going to share how to elevate your own self-care routine with easy and simple ways to take better care of you.
That way, even within the crazy, and the hard, to know that you can absolutely prioritize taking care of you no matter what season of life you may be in. Because the truth is, if you focus on taking care of you and pouring into you, then you can show up more in other areas of your life. The possibilities for soaring to your potential and beyond our endless when you focus on taking care of you.
Furthermore, taking care of you is not selfish. It is a necessary requirement to live as the people we are called to live. Therefore, you have complete permission to take care of you now in order to take better care of all the people around you. Therefore, feel encouraged in your own self-care routine so that you can grow to become the person you were always meant to be!
Self-care is something that I really love to talk about because it’s something that I’ve had to fight for and work for within my own life and my own habits within the last decade of my life. Truly to find time to slow things down and stop the hustle and make sure I am making it a priority to take care of me. The focus occasionally needs to be put on you and it’s not as hard as you think. You can elevate your self-care routine in order to take better care of you each and every day and week.
In order to do this, I have some simple and helpful tips to actually make this a reality. So in order to actually allow this to happen, to elevate your self-care routine, take better care of you, I’m sharing five tips. Five little tricks in order to put the emphasis back to you and take better care of you. And to do all of this right now. Even within the busy and crazy season of life that we are all living in.
The very first thing to do in order to elevate your very own self-care routine is to spend some time getting to know yourself again. Spend time getting to know the person you are right now. Not the person you were a couple years ago, nor the person you were last season. But the person you are right now. What are the things that you need right now?
Ask yourself some questions and reacquaint yourself with the real you. What is it that you truly love to do? What are the things that fill you with joy? Figure out what moments give your heart peace and rest. Another question to ask yourself is what are the moments during the day where you feel the most stressed? Or, what are the moments during the day where I feel more overwhelmed or vulnerable to bigger emotions? Spend time asking yourself some tough questions and work through your responses.
Now, here’s why you wanna do this. So first off, once you figure out what you truly love to do, then you can make it a priority to put that back into your week. Make it a priority to actually spend the time doing the things that you love. The very first step to elevate your self-care routine is asking these questions with yourself. Followed by, really spending time listening and feeling what you need to feel in order to take that priority back. And so when you think of these things, take note of them. Jot them down somewhere. Especially when you figure out where the moment in your day is, where you feel more tension, then you know, okay, this is what I need to focus on in that moment to take better care of me!
By figuring out the time frames where most of our stress lies, we can better equip ourselves to handle the situation differently, by being more prepared. This is so very important for self-care because our situations impact how we feel which can impact our level of peace! Asking yourself the tough questions is the first step. It introduces awareness to the situation. Once you have awareness, you can then start working to set yourself up for greater success in your own personal wellness.
The next step to upgrade your personal self-care routine, in order to take better care of you is to focus on your morning routine. Elevate your self-care by bringing something into your morning routine that fills you up. Do something in your morning routine that allows you to have a moment of what you need to be able to have your most successful day. Now, this will change depending on each day and season. As well as who you are as a person. However, make sure more than anything, you are having time to yourself in the morning before anyone else needs you.
Having your own personal time is so pivotal in the mornings. This is absolutely essential to so many important things in your own day-to-day life. Within your morning routine do something that pours into you. Even if it’s a super small window of time, find something to do that can pour into you. That way, if you do oversleep, or lose the battle with the snooze button, you can still have this moment. Whether that is actually going downstairs and making your cup of coffee and drinking that coffee over a journal or a devotional. Or time to sit in quiet and stillness and reflect, do something for you.
It’s a noticeable difference on my own personal mood when I have that time to myself in the morning and I know it will be for you. Definitely make a priority to focus on your morning routine and to elevate your morning routine. Even if it is just a really small moment of time to yourself through either a good cup of coffee or quiet moment. Or reading a book or devotional, meditation, or stretching or working out. Whatever it is you need, do something that you need to do to start your day off your way in the morning. This is essential to upgrading your self-care routine and taking better care of you!
Similar to number two, the third essential step to elevating your personal self-care routine is to cultivate your bedtime routine. Figure out a way to elevate your bedtime routine. Incorporate something in your nighttime routine that allows you to focus on YOU and honoring YOU and your individual needs.
This is a time where you are not focused on anybody else, just you. The good news with bedtime routine, hopefully everybody else is taken care of. Hopefully, all the other things have been done and you can give yourself FULL permission to focus on the things you need in that moment. Maybe it is something as simple as washing your face, completing your get-ready-for-bed routine, and crawling into bed in your favorite, most comfortable pair of pajamas. Or spending time reading your favorite book, or writing down a few thoughts for the next day. Whatever it is, find time to focus on the things you need to do in your bedtime routine.
This list is so simple. Spend time asking yourself questions, and finding ways to incorporate more time for you within your morning and evening routines. This list is simple. because the reality is we are crazy and we’re overwhelmed humans. There are so many things we’re dealing. Often times, taking care of our own basic needs is the last thought.
Therefore, we don’t want to slow things down to ask ourselves questions cause we truthfully don’t want to hear the answer. Nor do we want to find the time for ourselves because we are just barely surviving as it is. Nor do we want to find time for our own sanctity at night, because we are so dang exhausted and ready for bed. Therefore, these tips to upgrade your self-care routine, are actually super simple. Practical, easy things that can be done within super small pockets of your day that can actually make a complete total difference and transformation of how you live your life.
The fourth step to elevating your self-care routine is to get more sleep! Yes, prioritize getting sleep and be okay with it. Understand that sleep is essential to you and your needs as a human being and all the other human beings around you that you interact with. If you want the quickest way to elevate your own self-care routine, prioritize getting a healthy amount of sleep.
Finally, the fifth way to elevate your self-care routine is to do the things you love to do, and the things that bring you joy, more often! This is by the favorite and most easiest of things to do, yet very few of us find the time for it. Take time to do the things you truly love to do. Actually plan moments during your day to do the things you love and the things that bring you joy.
This goes back to the very first question. Think of the things you need to bring you complete joy. What would provide a good moment of reset within your week that you want to work towards getting to. Find moments within your week where you can truly do the things you love to do. Spend time outside, taking time to connect. Have a dedicated date with yourself during the week.
This is a great action step for taking time to do the things you truly love to do, but actually make it an appointment each and every week. That way you know the moments where you are going to hit that reset button and pour into you! That this is the moment that is going to revive my soul and make me come to life.
It is so important to fill our own cup before we can give to those around us. So build in more moments of quiet throughout your day. Add in things that you truly love to do. Think through your routines and find time to carve little tiny sprinkles of moments devoted to you. Moments where you can focus on YOU and actually take care of yourself. Not only will you be better for it, but every single person you interact with will too!
There you have it, five super simple and easy ways to elevate your self care routine. Through getting to know yourself and asking yourself some super tough, hard questions. Followed by, working moments of you time in the morning, and evening, and prioritizing getting actual sleep. And taking the time to do the things you truly love to do. Make your self-care a priority through a dedicated date night during the week. It is truly possible to elevate your self-care routine to take better care of you each and every day.
