Feeling relaxed and recharged is one of the best feelings in the world. I don’t know about you, but for me, when I think about an extremely relaxing place that can help me unwind, I think about the spa. Specifically the spas that just feel luxurious by the scents and sounds – you know the ones I’m talking about. The ones where you walk in and hear water fountains, peaceful music, and maybe even some calming nature sounds. They are diffusing calming and relaxing smells such as lavender and are burning candles to promote peacefulness. Those are the best places. We experienced one of these spas while traveling to Napa last February. We splurged and felt like royalty as we indulged in the couple’s spa treatment and it was an absolute delight.
Now take all of those feelings of the spa, the bliss, the relaxation, the peace and calming feelings and think just how amazing it would be if we could duplicate those same vibes in our own homes, and what better place to do so than our own master bath.
At the end of a long day, there is nothing that I want more than to walk into a spa and feel that immediate relief and relaxation. Although it would be way too expensive (and timely) to go to a spa every single day (even though that just sounds absolutely fantastic) I truly believe that I deserve that feeling of peace in my own home, which is why our next home renovation (however soon OR far away that may be) will most definitely be our master bathroom. And on that day, I would absolutely love to create our master bathroom to feel like a spa. A place to relax, and unwind, and to just, purposefully be. That truly would be the dream!
Since all I can do is imagine right now, I wanted to create a space for all of my inspiration so that one day, I can read this again and then actually make this happen. Or, maybe one of my readers will take all of this inspiration and apply it within their home. Either way, creating a spa-like bathroom is #goals and here is what I would do to make it happen:

Although heated floors in the Georgia heat that lasts from late spring to late fall would not be the most appealing idea CAN YOU IMAGINE all of the warm feels heated floors would bring during the colder weather months. Georgia has been very hot lately, but try to think back to the winter when you would get out of the shower and would shiver constantly and how often times you may avoid getting out of the shower (to the expense of your water bill) because you know you will be in for a shock – I think heated floors would not only add a layer of luxury to your bathroom (which is always great for improving home values), but it would definitely help take the chill off. As well as add to the overall spa-like vibes.
Another luxurious item would be a towel warming system. I found a Antus 2056 towel warmer on the Guy Gunter Home website and it looks amazing. It says that it has a total of 32 bars, which can hold 3 large towels, which is perfect for me! While I think the heated floors would be more useful during the winter months, I could use a towel warmer year-round. There is just something about a warm towel that feels amazing. Hold me closer, warm towel, please!
In order for candles to feel relaxing, the lights have to be dim and you cannot do that without a dimming light function. Thankfully, adding a dimming feature to your lights is not extremely costly and it is pretty easy to do. In fact, most people do it themselves, but if you are not comfortable with doing so, please feel free to play it safe and hire the job out to a professional. Dimmed lights can really help with setting the mood for relaxation, so I think it is an essential addition to a spa-like bathroom.
Most spas include quite a bit of nature because nature relaxes people. They typically paint their walls greens, taupes, or other neutral ‘natural’ colors. While green probably would not look the best in a bathroom, I suggest painting your bathroom a light, neutral color. If you do not want to paint your bathroom, that is okay too! You can still get the ‘earthy,’ peaceful feeling by adding houseplants to your bathroom. This not only helps set a relaxing and earthly tone for your bathroom, but it the plants will also naturally purify your air.
As I’ve mentioned in a few of my posts, I am a huge oil fanatic. I truly believe that they help us live the best lives that we can live. If you are not familiar with essential oils, especially Young Living, check out this post here. Oils can help with things such as stomach aches, colds, sore muscles, and relaxation, which is why it is a great addition for a spa-like bathroom. Most spas in the area diffuse oils and use essential oils during massages, as well, so you will naturally associate some of the scents with your relaxing spa experiences. My personal favorite oils to use in the bathroom include Eucalyptus Radiata, Lavender, Peace & Calming, Wintergreen, Spearmint, PanAway, and Stress Away.
A deep soaking tub (maybe even one with jets) is perfect for relaxation. Throw in your essential oils, bubble bath, bath bombs, or whatever you use and you are set. I highly recommend getting a bath tray so that you can bring some candles, a book, and maybe a glass of your favorite beverage to relax you even more. I have been searching deep soaking tubs on Guy Gunter Home and they all look amazing! Guy Gunter Home sells the best bathtubs, bath faucets, and bath drains from Toto, Duravit, and BainUltra. You can find all of those at their West Midtown Atlanta Appliance Showroom in Atlanta.
When you purchase an appliance from Guy Gunter Home, it does not stop at the purchase. After you choose your item, their courteous and neat installation team will make it extremely easy for you. Their full-service installation does not just mean that they will come and drop the item off. It includes so many perks such as partnering with cabinet makers for adjustments and panel attachments, verifying the placement of electrical, gas, and water locations, if necessary, and much more.
In addition to that, Guy Gunter Home works with some of the most reputable service teams in Atlanta. If you are ever having an issue with your bathroom appliance, all you need to do is reach out to Guy Gunter Home and they will do all of the leg work for you like contacting service companies and arranging repairs, and using a combination of their install team and service contacts to facilitate emergency service, when necessary. Because of their educated employees and amazing customer service, I truly believe that Guy Gunter Home goes above and beyond to serve all of their clients and if you are in the Metro-Atlanta area and are interested in kitchen, bath, home care, or outdoor appliances, you should definitely check them out.
