Does your little one love Spiderman? I feel as if my three-year old spent nine whole months prior to his next birthday talking about his dream to have a Spider-Man themed birthday party. Sure enough, mama does love to throw a party. Knowing that I would be planning and hosting his Spidey-themed birthday party three months postpartum, I spent lots of time during the insomnia of the third trimester, looking through Pinterest for ideas and inspiration. And now I am sharing it all with you – Spiderman birthday party ideas! Sharing all the details of our spider-man themed birthday party. All so that you too can turn your little one’s dream Spidey party into a reality!
Now fair warning, I do love planning birthday parties. Therefore, when I go to plan the birthday party, I am doing so with the added intention of blogging it. So please, look at this from the lens of inspiration. Do not feel like you have to include every single detail in order to have a successful party. The most important part of a child’s birthday party is to celebrate life and make sure they feel the love. Your motherhood is not defined by the type of birthday party that you throw!
Whenever I plan a child’s birthday party, I start with choosing the specific theme by picking out the invitation. My favorite place to do this is Etsy. Regardless of what your theme is, there are SO many different styles and designs. Search your given theme with invitation and select your favorite one! From there build your party decorations and inspiration from that one invitation.
Another bonus to choosing an invitation from Etsy is that it allows for you to order a digital copy. That way you can save money by sending out digital invitations to your friends and family, or easily print them at your favorite local print shop. My go to is always Walgreens, as they almost always have a discount code for printing.
There are quite a few different styled Spider-man birthday party invitations out there. My absolute favorite invitation is this upside-down Spidey editable invite from PartyMood. Super easy to edit and print at our local print shop. I printed invitations to be able to send to my son’s school, as well as to keep a few as keepsakes. For family and close friends, I texted them a screenshot of the invitation. Using this invitation as the inspiration for the Spiderman party, I choose our party decorations and inspiration based off of the invite as a guide.
One more quick reminder that you do not have to go all out when planning your little one’s birthday party. So please don’t read this list of decoration ideas for a Spiderman birthday party and think you have to do it all. Instead, pick what you like the best and what is the easiest for you to pull off.
Ever since my son’s first birthday party where I had a balloon arch created for us by a local company, I have been unable to host a party without one. We have this beautiful stone archway that is a center point in our downstairs living space. And the balloon arch provides the ultimate decoration and backdrop for photographs.
Therefore, I found myself once again working into the early hours of the morning, blowing up and installing the balloons for this Spidey-themed balloon arch. I ordered a few different packages of balloons from Amazon to put together this balloon arch!
Probably my favorite piece of decor of our entire Spiderman themed party was the Amazing Friends balloon garland. Now, I will say it took a minute to put together. So definitely bring your patience, but well worth it in my opinion. A beautiful backdrop that is completely customizable with your young one’s name. This fits the Spidey and Amazing Friends theme so well and adds to the whole vibe of the party.
For another sweet decoration idea, I ordered the digital files to this fun superhero skyscraper from Etsy. I printed them at Staples (they had another really good promo for printing) and then cut them out and attached them to a trifold board. I loved the super-hero flare this brought to our dessert table and overall aesthetic.
Additionally, using two other trifold boards, I painted a city skyline to serve as another backdrop and photo opportunity. This was a super simple way to add fun decor. I used two trifold boards that I aligned on top of each other. As well as black acrylic paint and painted a city skyline, using an image on Google for inspiration. I recommend sketching a rough outline in pencil before you use the paint!
Another easy way to add decorations to a birthday party is to supplement the space with toy figurines. I ordered Spidey action figures to sit on the dessert table. They worked perfect for decor for the party, and now make for the best toys after.
I am all about the little details, and one little detail that can be an easy addition to any Spiderman themed birthday party are these cute Spidey & Friends window stickers. I attached them all throughout the downstairs of our house (Where the inside portion of the party was taken place) and loved the extra flair it provided.
This was the first year that our son’s birthday party included inviting friends from his school. Now, the thought of opening up your home to lots of 4 year olds may overwhelm you, I wanted to be sure to have a variety of entertainment ideas to keep the littles occupied and engaged throughout the entire party. Now, we hosted our party in July in the middle of the hot Georgia summer.
We started the party at 4:00 pm in the afternoon, hoping to catch some of the afternoon shade in our front yard. I created a Spider-Man obstacle course, zone for fighting the villians, and we had a Spider-Man bounce house all set up to go. Naturally, five minutes before the party began, a torrential downpour occurred. This was nowhere in the forecast.
As the main party attraction, we rented a bounce house from Chris Ally Events and Party Rentals. If you are local to North Georgia, I would strongly recommend using Chris Ally Party Rentals for your next event. We rented the Spiderman Bounce House (the dry version). Ironically, the torrential downpour that occurred at the beginning of the birthday party quickly turned our dry bounce house into a water slide, only adding to the fun!
To provide additional entertainment, I created a Spiderman Obstacle Course (think training for young super heros) as an additional outdoor activity. I used pool noodles, hula hoops, sports cones, and this obstacle course set from Ikea to create an outdoor training area.
For a quiet activity, I like to set up a coloring station that matches the theme of the birthday party! This is a really easy way to have an activity that goes with your birthday party theme and can provide an activity for party guests who want a quieter activity. I ordered Spidey and Friends coloring sheets off of Etsy and then printed them at our house to set up this coloring station.
For another simple activity for our Spiderman birthday party, I ordered super hero capes and masks and super hero stickers to decorate the capes and masks with. This actually worked out perfectly as the first part of our party dealt with a random summer rain shower, after the guests ate, they were directed into the family room to decorate their super hero cape & masks. This also makes for a cute photo opportunity as well!
Another really great idea to entertain little ones at your Spiderman themed birthday party is to use silly string to attack the bad guys. I purchased the small silly string cans from the dollar store and these customized silly string labels from Etsy. Then, I took images of Spidey’s villains, printed them on poster size paper and attached to garden stakes in the yard. Of course, after our brief rainstorm, the villains no longer stood on their own. Therefore, I moved them to the side of our house to lean up against the fence!
When it was time to “defend the birthday party” I gathered all the kiddos around and told them Doc Ock, Rhino & Electro all had arrived and we needed to blast them with our webs! I handed the little ones their web shooter & told them to go and save the day! This was loads of fun and brought many smiles and giggles to their faces!
Another absolute staple for planning a birthday party is creating a dessert table. I use the buffet table in our dining room to serve as the landing space for the desserts. Additionally, I allow this to be a place to show off the party theme decor as well.
For our Spider-man themed birthday party, I utilized the city-skyscraper backdrop, Spidey & Friends action figures, cupcake toppers & decorated sugar cookies to create our Spiderman-themed dessert table. Plus, I love to throw together a couple of different options for sweets. Our dessert table included decorated sugar cookies, vanilla cupcakes, twizzlers, and macaroons. (My son loves macaroons, so I thought this would be a fun touch!)
For our Spiderman themed birthday cake, I decided to stick with the basics. While it was definitely tempting to reach out to a local cake baker and ask for a Spiderman themed cake, I found really cute Spidey and Friends cake toppers from Etsy and decided to place them on top of a cake from Publix. This actually worked out great, as my son was able to help pick out the cake he wanted from Publix (blue frosting and confetti sprinkles). Then, we were able to personalize it with the cake toppers! And this was a lot cheaper this way!
In addition to the cake, I also had vanilla cupcakes from Publix. I ordered them with plain vanilla frosting and sprinkled Spiderman themed sprinkles on top. Additionally, I printed cupcake toppers using this easy download from Etsy, taped them to wooden skewers, and placed them in the cupcakes. I love using cupcake toppers as an easy way to add to your party decor. These Spidey & Friends cupcake topper download was extremely easy to use and a super cute addition to the dessert table!
For Spiderman party favors, I created mini coloring sheets. Now, this is something that you can easily purchase premade from Etsy. However, I did not want to pay the price for customized favors. Especially since I was spending money on so many other things. This was one party item that I thought I could easily make on my own!
Therefore, to make this happen I ordered the coloring sheet download off of Etsy. Then created the mini coloring book in Canva. I printed two per page and cut them to assemble into a booklet. I ordered gift bags from Amazon and created the customized “Thanks for being an amazing friend” banner to secure to the top. Additionally, I also used Canva to create the banner. Then ordered the correct size print at Walgreens.
To add an extra little pop of fun (and to cater to things my son loves) I placed the mini coloring sheets with ring pops as a special treat for my son’s amazing friends to take with them on their way out the door!
There you have it. Everything we did to create a Spider-man themed birthday party for our four year old. From decorations, to dessert and activities to keep the young super heroes engaged.
