Happy February! Finally, a brand new month is here. My absolute, favorite kind of day and much reason for celebration. As we kick off a brand new month I’m so excited to share with you what you need to focus on this month in order to take care of you. The good news is, this is a super short list. Yes! I am sharing with you the ONE thing you need to do this month in order to take care of you!
I don’t know about you, but for me, January went by very slowly and I’m okay with that. Truthfully, I felt like the pace in which January was lived was a very healthy, conscientious pace of living, and I’m here for it. A pace that really allowed me to be more present and find more purpose in each moment. To slow things down in order to find joy in each and every moment.
This past month really allowed me to live with a more purposeful consciousness. As I moved through the month of January, I felt hopeful. Truly, I felt as if each month gave me the ability to hit a reset button. As if my gaze towards life and the world I’m living in was more mindful about the REAL questions.The “how are things going?” and the “how are you really doing?”
The slower pace of living last month really allowed me to be more in tune with myself in a way to actually prioritize taking care of me! By having real honest conversations. Asking myself the real, honest questions. And it was really cool to walk more slowly with the concept of time to be more in tune to myself.
Here we are in a brand new month. Naturally, February, as the shortest month of the year, gives the tendency and the urge to speed things up. While January was slow, hold on for dear life because the rest of the year is about to happen right now. Personally, I am challenging myself to not focus that way. Instead, to prioritize the practice of slowing down in moments and finding contentment.
Truthfully, I want MORE this month. More moments of slow. More moments of intention. I want more moments where I feel like I’m being my best self called in the place that I’m called to in that moment.
This month, I want more of my moments as a mom interacting with my son, and for those moments to fulfill me. Additionally, I want more quality moments with my husband. Furthermore, I want more moments in the classroom where I feel as if today is truly a GOOD day! This month, I want more. And I want more for you this month too. So feel encouraged and feel refreshed.
Feel excited that this new month is just another opportunity. A wonderful opportunity to hit reset and restart. That you can do that every single day, this month, all 28 days. You don’t have to wait until March 1st. You can try right now and again tomorrow to focus on walking in the life, your heart needs you to walk in right now!
Therefore, the actual one thing you must do this month and the only thing you need to do is to take care of you! Get rid of everything else focus on taking care of you this month. Prioritize taking care of yourself. This month of February, take care of yourself and honor you. Figure out what is the exact thing that you need right now to be able to function as your best self. What is it? What is the one thing you need more of? Or what is the one thing you need less of?
What does that look like? Take a personal self inventory. Think through what is going well in your life? What are areas where you’re feeling anxious. Additionally, where are you feeling worry? Figure out what it is you need to focus on and make that a priority this month. That’s the only thing you need to do for the month of February.
Is it rest? Is it connection? Do you need more life to your dreams? Do you need time to be able to focus on what you are seeking? This is your permission right now to take care of you this month and to go after the thing that has been sitting right there within your heart, speaking to you for a while.
This is the time right now is to listen to that voice. It can be super easy to just live life in the motions through the waves letting circumstance define you. But there is more to life than just circumstance. There is a purpose in your journey. Feel encouraged with this new month. Feel invigorated towards taking one step, even if it’s just a small step to walking more in line with the person you want to be.
Determine what this looks like for you in your life. What does she look like? What is one step that is going to take you there? How do you wanna feel? Focus on making that feeling become a priority. What is it that is going to make you happy? What will bring joy to your heart! Is it prioritizing rest, finding comfort and sanctification within your home, accomplishing a big task off of your own list? Or is it taking a risk or a chance on yourself.
Figure out what the one thing you wanna focus on this month for you is, and then do it. Give yourself permission to turn the attention to you. Give yourself the freedom to work on the things you need in order to thrive! When you are in a position to thrive, the world you interact with and the people in it will be better off because of it.
Think this through. You owe yourself that! Complete your own little self-assessment. Figure out what is it that you need right now. What is the thing that you’re longing for? The desire of your heart that has not been sought after or poured into. And think through what is the one thing you need this month? And then do it! Be sure to take care of you in that process.
This can be an experiment. You can try different things and see what works. Start with different habit building and figure out what it is you need and go from there. Play around with it. See what that looks like.
Figure out what healthy habits work best for you, that you need in order to take care of you! How would I feel if I made a point to make a smoothie and had a smoothie three or four days a week? Or how would I feel if I only limited myself to one cup of coffee in the morning or drinking X amount of water. Think through different things and play around with it and experiment to see what works. Evaluate how you feel and adjust as you need to play around with different strategies.
Whether that’s trying to figure out what works best with a workout routine or finding better opportunities to unwind in the evening. Or not wanting to spend as much time with screens. Instead, find more purpose and moments with a journal or a book. The real importance here is, this is for you only. So dig deep down inside and find the answer for you!
Based on your answer of what you need most, focus on that. This month I am giving you permission to focus on taking better care of you. Every single person in your life will be better off for it if you focus on this one thing. And I am very excited for you. I am excited for you to feel freedom and to live an abundant life this month of February.
This month is going to be abundantly full of really good things. And it’s going to be full of really good things because you are going to honor yourself! I get it! You’re tired, you’re exhausted. You feel as if you serve and pour out all the things, all the love, all the energy to everyone around you, and it can be tiring.
Therefore, this month, put yourself back as the priority! Take some time to recharge, to rest, slow things down, and pour into your passions, your desires, and your dreams. And if you do that, you will be so incredibly amazed and proud of the person that you embody this month, and I cannot wait to talk to her friend. I’m excited for you, and I’m cheering you on every single step of the way! Wishing you the absolute best day!
