There is something so incredibly powerful and comforting with the feeling of home. The place where you can find rest and refuge in. Where hope and life and love all exist. The place where stories are forever unfolding as the memories that define us are made. Home is deeply personal and full of incredibly rich feelings and strong emotions. Feelings and emotions that stay with us for a long while. As powerful as our homes are, just like ourselves, we too evolve. And what once may have defined us, can look different at another point in time. No matter where you find your home, nor no matter what season of life you are currently in, one thing is certain, you deserve a place to truly find a home. And not just any home, but you deserve to find your dream home. And, it’s not as hard as you think.

So many of us can constantly chase the idea of our dream life. Chasing our dream job and dream lifestyle. Constantly searching and seeking to find our dream home, a place to truly call yours. And I think that is incredible, I truly do, but I think there is so much more to it. As important as it is to find your dream home, I think the most important thing of all is to shift your perspective on what defines a home as “dream-worthy.”
Because that is what life is. It’s about our thoughts, our perspective, and how we see the world around us. Therefore, in order to find your dream home, it is essential to focus on aligning our thoughts and mind with our hearts to truly understand what that dream home looks like. And in order to do this, I have FOUR steps you need to take in order to find your dream home.
Four steps to help you figure out what your dream home consists of and where you hope to be. All in order for you to live each and everyday as a happier and more joyful version of yourself. I remember back to my husband and I’s 700 sq ft first apartment. I remember the first Christmas we shared together, curled up in our tiny bedroom after suffering a nasty bit of food poisoning. I remember the celebratory embraces as we both celebrated major steps towards our career.
And I remember those same exact embraces and all the happy emotions as we built our own dream home together, where we now live with our two dogs and our son. Your dream home is worth finding. Your life is worth building in a place that not only can sustain you, but also empower you to be the best version of who you want to be.
The very first step to finding your dream home is to envision your dream home. Before you can find what it is that you are looking for, you must envision it within your mind. Work through your heart and believe fully in the possibility of one day. And know that one day is possible. That one day will become your reality. So envision it. Dream it. The first step for anything to ever exist is to create it in your mind.
Have conversations with your family and friends. Talk to your significant other. Dream boldly for what you want your future home to be. I remember one of my husband and I’s earliest trips together. We were just dating at the time, but took a mini trip to the beach while in college. On our drive down to the beach, we took the receipt from our lunch stop and I remember specifically writing down our must-have requirements for our dream home. We were still in college, no official future plans in sight, yet both believed so fully in our future and in what our dream home could look like.
Therefore, in order to find your dream home, you must envision what your dream home will be. Every single great thing starts with a simple belief turned into a vision. And your dream home can be the exact same way.
Once you envision your dream home, the second step to finding your dream home is to know exactly what it is that you want. I believe in the power of pen and paper and taking the things we hold in our hearts and minds and putting it somewhere to live. Take the dream, the dream home you have envisioned and write it out specifically.
In order to find your dream home, you have to know exactly what it is that you want. What is important to you? Where are your priorities? Go through and create a complete list identifying with yourself what are the things that are the most important and what are the things that are the least. By clarifying this from the beginning, the process of finding your dream home will be even more simple.
The third step to finding your dream home is to prioritize your feelings. Focus on what you need to feel good. What are the things you need in a home to feel peace? How are you going to feel secure and comforted within the walls of your own home? If you focus on prioritizing your feelings, you will find more success in your dream home because it is based on what you feel within your heart.
As you look for your dream home, can you feel your family there? Can you feel the love and life within the walls? Is this the place for laughter, and tears? In order to find your dream home, focus on the feelings of what that dream home is going to feel like, and I can assure you, you will find it!
